Engineering - Engineering Operations - Materials Handling System Manager

Responsibilities

  • Assist General Manager of Engineering Subsidiaries in achieving departmental KPIs, quality programs and other analytical work/assignment.

  • Analysing and resolving risks and issues relating to materials handling activity across all subsidiaries.

  • Identify and implement changes to ways of working to deliver business improvements with regards to work carried out by inhouse or third party resources, in order to meet or exceed objectives and KPIs.

  • Ensure safety improvements are evaluated, based on risk assessments, good practice or incident analysis, and implemented consistently and in a timely fashion across all subs.

  • Act as SPOC responsible for overall co-ordination of all materials handling activities across all four subsidiaries.

  • Set optimal maintenance strategies based on maintenance strategy processes, and subs data and service environment (eg. corrective and preventive maintenance strategies) for automated material handling equipment.

  • Set up appropriate service level agreements and full maintenance package with all subsidiaries to ensure established quality and performance standards are met.

  • Ensure services provided and standards delivered via SLAs, are in line with subs requirements, and are efficiently delivered in a cost effective way.

  • Own and manage all materials handling contracts with service providers. Ensure the effective implementation of contracts, and proactively work with suppliers to improve the service provided to the subsidiaries, and their cost effectiveness.

  • Track materials handling contractors service delivery and performance. Co-ordinate and oversee mitigating steps or actions to resolve any gaps. Make necessary contract adjustments and manage any performance issues.

  • Track performance of materials handling services provided in line with KPIs, and devise and implement ways to address any gaps or shortfalls in service delivery or performance.

  • Provide technical support and oversight to subsidiary-embedded engineering teams to optimise the performance of the automated systems by analysing system faults, proposing and carrying out enhancement works.

  • Suggest and implement new initiatives to reduce maintenance cost and/or improve the system availability and safety performance with due consideration to sound environmental practices, safety, security and cost.

  • Perform 24 hours standby if required, to ensure communication with colleagues, smooth real time operation and maintenance, if attending emergency and reporting duty during off-duty and typhoon as required.

  • Set up contingency plans, emergency procedures and drills for related MHS/automated system in case of any unforeseen events.

  • Work with Projects team to assist devising and leading enhancement/ improvement projects to meet the business and operational needs.

  • Provide support to ensure the quality and timely delivery of capacity improvement projects.

  • Any ad hoc duties or projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering and/or qualified member of a professional institution e.g. HKIE or CEng in related disciplines.

  • A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience with not less than 3 years at managerial level.

  • 8 years experience in materials handling system / equipment maintenance management.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good written and communication skills in both Chinese and English.

  • Good computer knowledge in MS Office, Good knowledge and skills on computer aid system for inventory, PR & PO. Good management skills.

  • Work independently and result-oriented.
